2021 ICS YOUTH EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

This Form is for Current ICS YC Committee Members that have served during 2020.

Please feel free to apply for the 2021 YC Executive positions using the RSVP Form. Last Date to submit your nominations is Jan 30th, 2021.

The ICS YC leadership positions for 2021 (President, Vice President and Secretary) will be selected based on the following criteria:

o   Number of hours you volunteered with ICS in 2020.

o   Feedback from previous year’s ICS EC team and Youth mentor (Who ever receives highest votes).

o   If there is a tie with above two points, then the volunteer hours for previous years will be taken into account as well as Number of years served on YC team.

o   Please note: All bullet points go hand in hand. There is no priority of one vs the other. 

Following are some the guidelines you as a parent as well as youth committee member should be aware of:

    • You need to be an ICS member for your child to participate in Youth Committee.

    • To get proper volunteer hours each child will need to sign in and sign out when they come to any meeting or events. There will be a signing sheet at every meeting and event.

    • The hours will be approved based on the completion of the task or responsibility assigned to you by YC leadership.

    •  The communications between YC team members happens in a WhatsApp group that each YC member will be part of.

    • It is not only important to do well on the tasks/duties assigned but also how well you carry them out and work with others.

    • Be punctual, courteous to others, share new ideas and have fun

    •  The volunteer hours will be tracked by the YC officers and the YC Mentor throughout the year.

    • Each YC member will have read-only access to this spreadsheet on ICS google docs.

    • You can get involved from 6th grade (middle school) onwards as a general volunteer.

    • To be one of the officer or a director in YC team, you need to be in grade 9th – 12th (High School) ·

·      We invite and encourage the younger generations to become active members of the ICS YC.

India Day Quiz Winners

The Indian Cultural Society of Jacksonville (ICS) invites you to join the upcoming celebrations for the 72nd Indian Republic Day, on January 30, 2021

Our ICS Event Directors for the 2021 India Day Celebration are:

As part of the 2021 Republic Day Celebrations, we have many contests and multicultural events planned for the evening. 

·      Poster Competition for Children

·      Fancy Dress Competition for Children

·      Cultural Performances 

·       We also have a Live Quiz planned for you as part of the main multicultural event on January 30, 2021!!! So, get ready and sharpen your fact skills about Indian history, current affairs and entertainment!


Details/Rules/Information for the Poster Competition:

1.     The event is open to all members of the community (ICS members and non-ICS members)

2.     Theme: 

o   Beautiful India (Monuments, Achievements, Festivals, Traditions, Costumes that highlight the beauty of India).

3.     Registration: No Registration required. Submissions are open! All entries will be locked at midnight on 01/15/2021.

4.     Entries will be displayed on the ICS Facebook for public voting: Starting 01/16/21 - To: 01/23/2021 (12.00 A.M.)

5.     Judges Selection Criteria: All entries will be judged by our judges who qualified art practitioners (60% weight) and number of Facebook likes received by each entry on the ICS page (40 % weight).

6.     One entry per participant

7.     Children can use any paint medium

8.     Poster paper size 9x11 and up. NOTE: Please do not write the participant name on the poster.

9.     There will be three age groups:

o   4 years – 6 years

o   7 years – 10 years

o   11 years – 15 years

10.  3 winners will be awarded in each category. Judges will score participants based on concept, creativity and drawing skills.

11.  Prizes will be announced and awarded during the cultural celebration on January 30th, 2021.

1.     The event is open to all members of the community (ICS members and non-ICS members)

2.     Theme: 

o   Indian National Heroes (National Leaders, Sports Personalities, Scientists, Famous Personalities that highlight the Indian Achievements).

3.     Registration: No Registration required. Submissions are open! All entries will be locked at midnight on 01/15/2021.

4.     Entries will be displayed on the ICS Facebook for public voting: Starting 01/16/21 - To: 01/23/2021 (12.00 A.M.)

 Details/Rules/Information for Cultural Performances:

1.     There will be a total of 10 cultural performances and registrations will be on a first come basis:

o   Group Dance (minimum 4 participants)

o   Group Song

o   Solo Dance

o   Solo Singing

o   Other Cultural Performances highlighting the rich culture of India.

2.      Theme: 

o   Keeping the patriotic occasion in mind, please refrain from using strong Bollywood music tracks. You may however use light Bollywood music with a patriotic / positive message.

3.     Duration for Each Performance: 4 minutes

4.     No Group Name or Business name should display as part of the costumes, or part of the performance. Participants/Participating group will be responsible for any copyright violations and ICS does not hold any responsibility for copyright infringement related to the performance.

5.     Last Date for Registration: 01/07/21

6.     Last Date for uploading performance video: 01/15/21

7.     NOTE: Please Register your group by 01/07/21 and then Submit your Performance Video. To submit your performance, please upload your video to your google drive and share the link in an email to: INDIADAY@JAXICS.ORG with the following information:

·       Group Name (for Group Performances) Or Full First and Last Name for Solo Performance

·       Link to your google drive with the Performance file

8.       NOTE: For Audio/Video you must follow the below Video recording guidelines:

·       Should be 1080p or 4K.

·       Should be shot horizontally - landscape mode

·       Camera(s) should be on a stable surface or usage of gimbal stabilizers are recommended

·       Recordings should be smooth without abrupt moves.

·       Make sure the subject is in focus and ensure adequate lighting.

·       Audio should be recorded in the video but when doing so make sure there are no other disturbances.

·       Please ensure you don’t clutter the video with too many special effects but if you do make sure the effects are optimized and the frame rates don’t suffer.

2021 ICS YOUTH COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS

The ICS Youth Committee is a Very Active and Integral part of the Indian Cultural Society of Jacksonville.

The objective of the ICS Youth Committee or ICS YC as its fondly called is to introduce the younger generation of Indians to the Indian culture and teach through immersion.

We invite and encourage the younger generations to become active members of the ICS YC.Last date for submitting your application is Jan 30th, 2021.

Following are the advantage of joining youth committee for your children:

o   Get volunteer hours

o   Learn teamwork and make more friends

o   It is platform where your children can come forward and show their talent

Details and Rules for Talent Show

  • Performances are grouped in 4 different age categories - Ages 4 - 6 year old ,7 - 10 year old, 11-16 year old , 17 year old and above

  • Performances can be solo or group performances.

  • No language restrictions

  • You can perform anything - sing, dance, play an instrument, speed painting or write your own poem and recite it. Anything which you can showcase in 4 minutes.

  • You will need to bring your own track, instrument or tools for your act, if needed

  • Time limit for performance is minimum of 2 minutes and maximum of 4 minutes.

  • Your video recording must be high quality and in landscape model

  • All performances will be judged by professionals from our community.

  • Top 3 performers in each age group will receive prizes if we have more than 5 entries. Otherwise only one will be the winner per age group

As a precaution due to escalated concerns regarding the Coronavirus outbreak and our concerns for the welfare, benefit and health of our members, event attendees, vendors and volunteers, Indian Cultural Society of Jacksonville (ICS) in association with HSNEF have decided to postpone "Holi - Festival of Colors", event scheduled for March 14, 2020 till further notice. 

This was a difficult decision to make as we are equally excited to welcome spring with colors. We hope you will understand the decision taken.

Indian Cultural Society of Jacksonville (ICS) in association with HSNEF present Holi - Festival

ICS and HSNEF invite you to celebrate Holi - Festival of colors, with your family & friends to shower in happiness and celebrate the colors of life! 

ICS has planned a variety of fun competitions and activities for kids and adults, dance & rocking beats with Live DJ, scrumptious home cooked food by volunteers, famous ICS Thandai, along with classic carnival games for children. The day will be filled with array of events and it will end with a riot of colors. Don't miss out, come and join the fun!

RSVP is required to participate in games, competitions and to win exciting prizes. ICS members will get free color* and thandai (RSVP required)

*2 per family membership, 1 per individual membership

We will be starting the celebrations with our Cultural performances on Sunday, January 26th, 2020 at Bolles Middle School.

Entry is free for all. But there will be a fee for dinner for non-members - $5 per person. Dinner will be free for all ICS members.

 

Details for the Poster Competition

  • Theme: Amazing India. Your poster should depict Places, Events, Culture or Personalities that make India Amazing and Unique!
  • It will be on  01/19/2020 at 1.00 pm (registration between 1.00 pm to 1.30 pm). The competition will start at 1.30 pm sharp.  All participants should be at the venue by 1.00 pm.
  • Duration 75 minutes.
  • Children can use any paint medium (please bring in your color supplies).
  • Poster paper will be provided to the children (9x14)
  • There will be three age groups:
    • 4 years – 6 years
    • 7 years – 10 years
    • 11 years – 15 years
  • Three winners will be awarded in each category. Participation awards for all participants.
  • Prizes will be announced and awarded during the cultural celebration on Sunday,  January 26th, 2020.

Details for the Elocution competition:

  • Topic: Amazing India 

          There will be two groups:

                    8 years – 12 years

                   13 years –16 years

  • The Judges' decision will be final.
  • The use of flashcards is allowed. However, over-reliance on these cards may negatively impact your score.
  • The main judging criteria are Stage Confidence, Delivery Style and Content.
  • Participants will have a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 4 minutes of stage time. (performances going overtime will not be judged)
  • Three winners will be awarded in each category. Participation awards for all participants.
  • Please be at the venue at least 15 mins prior.
  • Winners in each category to recite their speech at India Day event.
